Grafton Notch State Park

The park entrance is approximately 11 miles from the entrance to The Peaks Atop Mount Will. At 4180 feet above sea level, Old Speck is the third highest peak in Maine and presides over Grafton State Park, a premier hiking center that includes:

  • Step Falls
  • Screw Auger Falls
  • “The Jail”
  • Mother Walker Falls
  • Moose Cave
  • Spruce Meadow Picnic area

The names of Grafton State Park highlights alone should entice you to leave your Mount Will home for a day hike. What a thrill it would be to look back at Mount Will from the peak of Old Speck with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in hand!

Speaking of hiking, there is hiking on Mount Will too. The trails are located on the back side of Mount Will on the opposite side from where your home site will be. The Bethel Conservation Commission has developed 3.2 miles that provide wonderful river and mountain vistas. On a good day, it takes 2.5 hours to hike the entire loop from start to finish.
