Robert Trent Jones, Jr. is world renowned as being perhaps the best architect of new golf courses around. At the Sunday River Golf Club, Mr. Jones has proven this once again. His mountainside course flows perfectly with the landscape of the lower Mahoosuc Mountain Range in a manner that makes it just seem to belong there.
This is a premier golf destination in New England in every respect. Panoramic views of nearly endless, untouched wilderness surround you, and the towering Mahoosuc Mountain Range governs the course from above. Nearly all 18 holes feature awe-inspiring mountain views, and as promised, Mr. Jones integrated the course into the natural landscape. Said to be one of his greatest projects to date, Mr. Jones achieved the perfect balance of challenge and playability. The natural topography of the mountain landscape yields eighteen separate, self-contained fairways. Players will play through the Maine woods and over dramatic elevation changes. Arguably, this is one of his most spectacular courses from magnificent views of the Sunday River Valley up to the high soaring ranges of the Mahoosuc Mountain Range.
