February Progress | Sept Progress
Summer has gone by for most people in Maine, but not for all of the kids hanging around and in the Sunday River. Here are a couple kids squeezing out some fun at the natural river-slide down at the “secret spot” in Newry, Maine on October 2nd. We’ll tell you more about this spot once you too become a local. The leaves seem to have turned from lush green to multicolor foliage overnight on Mount Will.
The bridge construction is moving along very quickly and we’re right on schedule to the day! Above you can see the abutments are in and we’re expecting to have the rest of the bridge so you can drive across it by early November, if not sooner. How exciting! This bridge is 160 feet long and will add to the beauty of Newry, Maine’s landscape - we’re very confident you’ll agree.
We see more and more curious people hiking around The Peaks atop Mount Will and getting very, very excited when they really SEE the views. We welcome your visit anytime starting in early November. We are excited to call and mail an invitation to all our reservation holders to come select their home site during this “public not invited” time period. By this time, we’ll have many preliminary roads cut and pricing assigned to all 58 home sites in The Peaks. By then, Sunday River will just be starting to make snow.
Isn’t that an interesting thought? By having panoramic views of Sunday River Ski Resort, you’ll SEE exactly what trails they made snow on from your living room and more than likely, from your bed! That’s excellent. Another thought, the home sites along the river and probably even up the mountain a bit, will certainly hear the river when it’s roaring. The rains from last weekend had the river pumping and it sounded great! It makes sense that the river gets to an audible roar because 11 small streams run off the Mahoosuc Mountain and Sunday River Mountain Ranges into the Sunday River which runs directly by The Peaks and into the Androscoggin River. By the way, we designed our bridge to withstand the 500 year storm.
